Progress is happening at an ALARMING rate up here in these mountains! The roads…people moving back…grants for residents…hardworking volunteers…beloved MERC’S OPEN!!!! Can’t wait until we ALL come HOME!
In the midst of it all, we are creating THE FLOOD MUSICAL!
These gatherings are scheduled for anyone who can or wants to attend either or both:
1. THIS Sunday, January 12th @ 1 p.m. at my house in Lafayette.
2. NEXT Sunday, January 19th @ 1 p.m. at Oak’s house in Jamestown.
At this point, we are just kicking around ideas as some of us find healing and focus through discussion and creativity. If it’s not your thing at this time, that’s okay too!
As we progress, we will be seeking writers, people to tell THEIR personal stories, musicians, songwriters, artists (including film), actors, costume designers, set designers, and everything else that goes into a production. The performance will occur WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT and not too soon as we realize that the trauma is still fresh for many people and MUCH work needs to be done to rebuild BEFORE we can focus our energies on entertainment.
In the meantime, anyone is welcome to join us, no matter where you live or what your situation is! The gatherings are casual with no pressure to attend or contribute. If you are interested in participating in the musical (now or perhaps in the future) and/or attending these meetings, just show up OR call (3o3) 545-55o2 OR reply to this email for directions and info. You can also add your thoughts and ideas, stay connected, or learn what we have so far via email if you wish. I will continue emailing updates only to those who express interest. Likewise, please forward this invitation to anyone you feel might be interested.
In TRUE Jimtown fashion, this creation will be as epic as the flood itself while being sensitive to the many levels of this tragedy, finding humor where it existed, and focusing on our collective spirit of rebuilding, commUNITY, and being…
