Artist and long-time Jamestown resident, Joy Boston, has begun an amazing community art project to benefit the rebuilding of Jamestown. She’s overseeing the co-creation of press-mold bowls, which will be used as offerings of gratitude to groups and individuals helping Jamestown rebuild, as well as for residents, and for fundraisers.
The shape of the bowls, made with balls of clay, symbolize the rubble of our town’s flood destruction, and a way we can come together to reshape it with consciously shared effort. The Jamestown Flood bowls will be smooth on the inside, both symbolic and functional, to commemorate the flood event and the healing.
We are all invited to join in! Joy will be teaching this technique to Jamestown Elementary (both east and west), as well as to anyone who wants to help co-create. On behalf of this project, she’s been gifted a generous donation of clay and firings from the Boulder Potters Guild. Please contact her at email@example.com if you want to help make bowls.
